Norwegian authorities grant fishing licenses for mackerel in Norwegian waters
Licenses to fish for mackerel in Norwegian waters have been granted.
A total of 12 vessels will be allowed to fish simultaneously.
Twenty-one ships applied for permits under the new mackerel agreement with Norway.
As a result, a lottery was held by Vørn on Wednesday.
The nine vessels that did not make the cut among the first 12 include Birita, Gøtunes, Fagraberg, Christian í Grótinum, Tummas T, Eysturbúgvin, Vesturbúgvin, Arctic Voyager, and Ango.
The licenses to fish in Norwegian waters allow for one trip at a time.
Once a trip is completed, the vessel will be placed at the bottom of the list of the 21 ships.
Timeliness is crucial; if a vessel does not depart for fishing within 24 hours of receiving the license, the permit will be revoked, and the next ship on the list will have the opportunity to proceed.
