Fishing licenses granted to 12 vessels for mackerel in Norwegian waters
Fishing licenses for mackerel in Norwegian waters have already been granted.
A total of 12 vessels have been allowed to fish simultaneously. Out of the 21 ships that applied, a draw was held by the Faroese Fisheries Directorate on Wednesday to determine which would receive licenses.
The nine vessels that did not make it into the first 12 include Birita, Gøtunes, Fagraberg, Christian í Grótinum, Tummas T, Eysturbúgvin, Vesturbúgvin, Arctic Voyager, and Ango.
The allocation allows for only one fishing trip per vessel at a time. Once a trip is completed, the vessel will appear at the bottom of the list alongside the other 21 ships.
Timeliness is crucial, as vessels must depart for fishing within 24 hours of receiving a license; failure to do so will result in the license being revoked, allowing the next ship on the list to take its place.
In addition, Faroese vessels have also been granted permission to fish for mackerel in British waters.
