Unusually high levels of cod lice reported this summer

Kringvarp Føroya reports that unusually high numbers of cod lice have been observed this summer, according to fisherman Magni Blástein.

Petur Steingrund, a fisheries scientist at Havstovan, said fish may be more susceptible to lice when they are lean. Havstovan does not otherwise examine lice.

Blástein said he had also noticed lice on fish that were in good condition.
