Police find suspected homemade explosives in Äänekoski man’s home

Police have found suspected homemade firearms, ammunition and explosives in the home of a man from Äänekoski, Yle reports. The Central Finland District Court remanded the 31-year-old man in custody on 31 August on probable cause.
The Inland Finland Police Department is investigating the case. The man is suspected of an aggravated firearms offence, an explosives offence and aggravated preparation of a crime against life or health.
Police said they identified the suspect after receiving a report. During a search of his home, officers found suspected homemade firearms, firearm parts, cartridges, homemade explosives and explosive substances.
As part of the pre-trial investigation, police will assess whether the seized firearms, parts and ammunition are functional. They will also test the explosive substances and explosives, conduct further interviews and investigations, and obtain expert statements where necessary.
Police said they would not provide further details for investigative reasons.
