Attic fire forces evacuation of Kouvola apartment building

Residents of an apartment building in Kouvola have been evacuated after a fire broke out in the attic, Yle reports, citing the Kymenlaakso Rescue Department.

The building has two stairwells and four floors, and more than 20 residents are believed to have been evacuated, the duty officer told the Finnish News Agency STT.

No injuries have been reported, according to the rescue department. Firefighting operations are under way.

The emergency call about the fire on Sakaristontie came early on Wednesday. Rescue service units, emergency medical services, police and social and crisis emergency services are at the scene.
