Court convicts two men over attempted killing of 15-year-old in Forssa

Yle reports that the Kanta-Häme District Court has convicted two men of attempting to kill a 15-year-old boy in Forssa. The men were 18 and 21 at the time of the offence.

The 21-year-old was sentenced to three years and nine months in prison, while the younger man received a sentence of two years and two months.

The violence took place in December 2025, when two groups met near a local school. The groups had exchanged insults and tensions had developed before the meeting. The two convicted men were mildly intoxicated and had prepared for the encounter with a knife and a metal pipe.

The court found that the younger man started the violence against the other group. The confrontation ended with him on the ground and the victim on top of him. When the boy stood up, the younger man held him while the older man stabbed him three times from behind.

The boy suffered wounds and internal injuries. The confrontation lasted less than a minute before the groups ran in different directions. Members of the boy’s group called the emergency services, and police arrested the two men near the scene.

The younger man denied holding the victim and said that members of the other group had also assaulted him. The older man argued that he had been protecting himself and his younger friend. The court rejected the claim of excessive self-defence, saying the younger man’s injuries did not support the account of a powerful attack against him.

Although the younger man did not use the knife, the court found that both men had acted together. Both had entered the confrontation prepared to use violence, and the younger man had prevented the victim from escaping by holding him.

The men were jointly ordered to pay the victim nearly 20,000 euros in compensation. They must also cover around 7,500 euros in legal costs. The verdict is not yet final.
