The Finnish Defence Forces have introduced a temporary restriction zone for aviation and maritime traffic in the eastern Gulf of Finland, Yle reports.
The restriction was put in place early Tuesday as a precaution to protect bystanders and secure authorities’ ability to counter possible drones, the Defence Forces said on the social media service X.
Aviation and maritime traffic have been restricted in the eastern Gulf of Finland several times in recent weeks. The restrictions have been linked to Ukrainian drone attacks on Russia.
Alexander Drozdenko, governor of Russia’s Leningrad Region, said on Telegram that Russia had shot down more than a dozen drones over the region during the night. A drone-related danger had been declared in the region’s airspace in the morning.
