Seal population grows after hunting stopped

The seal population around the Faroe Islands has grown from an estimated 1,600 animals to about 2,000 since seal shooting was halted, according to Kringvarp Føroya.

Debate has resumed over whether seal hunting should be reintroduced. When shooting stopped in 2021, the population was estimated at around 1,600. This year, it is estimated at approximately 2,000.
