Iceland is on course to reject further membership negotiations with the European Union, with 52.5% of counted votes against and 47.5% in favour, mbl.is reports.
Final results are expected within 10 minutes, according to Tamar Klara Lipka Þormarsdóttir, chair of the electoral commission. The Southwest constituency is the only one where counting has not been completed.
The delay followed a discrepancy in the vote tally from Kópavogur, which required the ballots to be recounted. A substantial shift would be needed to change the expected outcome.
