A total of 61 fin whales have been caught during the current whaling season, a relatively low number compared with a typical season, mbl.is reports.
Kristján Loftsson, chief executive of Hvalur hf., said conditions had been unfavourable for whaling so far this summer. Rough seas and fog in the whaling grounds have hampered operations.
Unless conditions change, the company plans to continue whaling until near the end of September, or possibly longer if the weather at sea improves.
