Driver arrested after apparently deliberately hitting pedestrian
A driver who was apparently under the influence of alcohol and drugs was arrested after hitting a stationary car and then a pedestrian, mbl.is reports. The pedestrian suffered minor injuries, and the driver was held in a police cell.
The incident was among the cases recorded in the police log covering operations from 5pm on Friday to 5am on Saturday. Six people were held in police custody overnight, and 87 cases were registered during the period.
Crane hits pedestrian bridge
A truck driver forgot to lower a crane before driving beneath a pedestrian bridge. The crane struck the bridge, causing considerable damage to it as well as to the crane.
Police intervened with two girls, aged 11 and 15, in central Reykjavík after midnight. They were taken to a police station, where their parents collected them.
A man wanted in connection with numerous offences was arrested in central Reykjavík. Another person was caught stealing from gardens in Hafnarfjörður.
Police also arrested a man in Breiðholt suspected of assault and weapons offences.
