Finnish flags are flying across the country today to honour Finland’s nature, Yle reports. Finnish Nature Day is celebrated on the last Saturday of August each year.
The celebration has been held since 2013 and became an official flag-flying day in 2023.
People can mark the day in several ways, including spending time outdoors or eating blueberry pie, which is known as the pastry of Finnish Nature Day.
The day can also end with a night outdoors. The Finnish outdoor organisation Suomen Latu is organising an event that challenges people to sleep under the open sky during a summer night.
