Man loses concealed axe during police intervention

A man was reported for carrying a weapon after police intervened in Reykjavík district 105 on Friday and he lost an axe he had hidden under his clothing, mbl.is reported.

The incident was included in the police log covering operations from 5am to 5pm.

Police also stopped a driver in district 220 on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs. The driver had also been disqualified from driving and was released after a blood sample was taken.

Two traffic accidents were reported. In district 109, a car collided with the rider of an electric scooter, while in district 112, a car hit a cyclist. The condition of those involved was not known.

Speeding and shop thefts

Police stopped a driver in district 104 who was travelling at 53 kilometres per hour in a 30 km/h zone. Another driver was stopped in the same district for failing to obey a stop requirement.

Theft was reported from shops in districts 103, 104 and 201. Police said the cases were dealt with at the scenes.

Police otherwise carried out routine monitoring and provided assistance during the day. No one was in custody when the report was written.
