Brynjar Níelsson takes over as chair of Faxaflóahafnir board

Brynjar Níelsson has been elected chair of the new board of Faxaflóahafnir, the port company, mbl.is reports. The board election took place at the company’s continuation annual general meeting on Wednesday, August 26.

The board has seven representatives of the company’s owners: Reykjavík City, Akranes, Hvalfjarðarsveit and Borgarbyggð. Five of the seven principal board members are new.

Ragnheiður H. Magnúsdóttir will remain as an independent board member representing Reykjavík City, while Páll Brynjarsson will continue as the joint independent representative of Akranes, Borgarbyggð and Hvalfjarðarsveit.

The departing board members are Líf Magneudóttir, the outgoing chair; Hildur Björnsdóttir, the outgoing deputy chair; Már Másson, representing Reykjavík City; Helga Harðardóttir, representing Hvalfjarðarsveit; and Guðmundur Ingþór Guðjónsson, representing Akranes.

Faxaflóahafnir thanked the outgoing board for its work on behalf of the company. The new board was elected in accordance with the partnership agreement governing Faxaflóahafnir.

Representing Reykjavík City on the board are Brynjar Níelsson, chair; Regína Ásvaldsdóttir; Anna Björk Bjarnadóttir, an independent board member; and Ragnheiður H. Magnúsdóttir, an independent board member. Their alternates are Bjarni Eggerts Guðjónsson, Bjarnveig Birta Bjarnadóttir, Helena Westhöfer Óladóttir, an independent board member, and Sigurbjörg Ásta Jónsdóttir, an independent board member.

Líf Lárusdóttir is the principal representative for Akranes, with Guðmundur Ingþór Guðjónsson as alternate. Haraldur Benediktsson is the principal representative for Hvalfjarðarsveit, with Guðrún Sigríður Gísladóttir as alternate.

Páll Brynjarsson is the joint independent representative for Akranes, Borgarbyggð and Hvalfjarðarsveit, with Hrafnhildur Tryggvadóttir as alternate.
