Allan Sigurðsson and Hannes Þór Arason will direct RÚV’s New Year’s comedy show for a second consecutive year, mbl.is reports, citing a statement from RÚV.
The show received a strong response last year, with 90% of respondents saying they were satisfied in a Maskína survey. According to RÚV, that was the highest satisfaction rate recorded since Maskína began surveying public attitudes towards the show in 2011.
Sigurðsson and Arason have assembled a five-member writing team consisting of Kristín Þóra Haraldsdóttir, Mikael Kaaber, Ólafur Ásgeirsson, Snjólaug Lúðvíksdóttir and Sverrir Þór Sverrisson.
“We have a fantastic team of writers. We have worked extensively with all of them in recent years, and what we find particularly exciting is how different their senses of humour are. Hopefully, viewers can therefore expect a varied and entertaining show,” Sigurðsson said in the statement.
Atlavík will produce the show, as it did last year. Sigurðsson and Arason run the company with Hannes Þór Halldórsson and Ingimar Guðbjartsson. In recent years, Atlavík has produced a range of television content, including IceGuys, Bannað að hlæja, Alheimsdraumurinn and Góða Íslendinga.
“The entire process last year, from the first writing sessions through to the tense premiere and the fantastic response, made the project one of the most enjoyable things we have taken on. When we were offered the chance to make Skaupið again, it was easy to say yes,” Arason said.
