Police are expected to seek continued detention for an Icelandic man held in connection with a homicide case in Kársnes, mbl.is reports. His detention order is due to expire on Friday.
The case concerns a Polish man in his fifties who died at Landspítali hospital from injuries sustained after being stabbed with a bladed weapon at a hospital earlier this month.
Two foreign nationals are also being held in connection with the case, one in Spain and the other in Poland. Police are expected to request their extradition to Iceland.
Thirteen people were initially arrested in connection with the investigation.
Ævar Pálmi Pálmason, deputy chief of the police investigative department, said the investigation was progressing slowly but steadily.
“This is an extremely extensive investigation. A great deal of evidence has been collected and processed,” he told mbl.is.
