Húsahagi wind farm leaves SEV with costly lesson

A wind farm at Húsahagi has become a costly learning experience for SEV, Kringvarp Føroya reported. The turbines are now also serving as a training ground for Faroese workers who will maintain wind turbines in the future.

The agreement covering service inspections has proved expensive. The project did not proceed as planned, and SEV and the wind power company were unable to carry out repairs because of a service inspection contract with supplier Enercon.

When the Enercon turbines were installed at Húsahagi in 2014, the outlook was positive. Cooperation with the suppliers was good and expectations were high, but problems later emerged.
