Police identify Polish man who died at Stuðlagil

Police have identified the man who died at Stuðlagil on Monday as Piotr Sójka, a 39-year-old Polish citizen, mbl.is reported.

Sójka lived in Poland and was travelling in Iceland, according to a statement from the East Iceland police chief.

The circumstances of the incident are being investigated by the East Iceland police investigation department. The investigation is progressing well, the statement said.

“Our thoughts are with Piotr’s family and loved ones, and we extend our condolences to them,” the statement said.
