Finnish Army launches week-long local defence exercises

The Finnish Army has begun local defence exercises in different parts of Finland, Yle reports. The drills will continue for one week.

About 3,600 soldiers, along with several authorities and business organisations, are taking part.

The Army says the exercises will develop cooperation between authorities and their ability to respond in order to safeguard critical functions in society.

The exercises will be visible and audible in the coming days in the Helsinki metropolitan area, North Karelia, Pirkanmaa, Satakunta and Lapland.
