Weekend forecast predicts unstable and rainy weather across Finland

This weekend is expected to be unstable and rainy across much of Finland. In recent days, the weather has been dry and warm, but by Saturday, conditions will shift drastically. While there will be periods of dry weather interspersed with rain, the overall forecast is for unstable and rainy weather nationwide.

Thursday will be the warmest day of the week, with temperatures reaching heatwave levels in many regions. Friday will still feature some dry spells, with the possibility of temperatures exceeding the heat threshold. However, rain will gradually make its way from the west and southwest, affecting the western and southwestern parts of the country throughout Friday. A low-pressure system accompanied by rain will move further westward on Saturday night.

According to meteorologist Matti Huutonen, Saturday and Sunday are expected to remain unstable, although there’s a low chance of rain in the far northern regions. During the consistent rainfall, temperatures may drop by around ten degrees from Thursday’s highs. Generally, temperatures over the weekend will hover between 15 and 20 degrees Celsius, with the potential to rise significantly above 20 degrees if the rain eases up.

As the rain progresses northward over the weekend, conditions may return to dry and warm at the start of next week, according to Huutonen. For more weather updates, visit Yle’s weather page.
