Decline in registered passenger cars reported in Faroe Islands

In the Faroe Islands, the number of registered passenger cars has significantly decreased this year compared to last. In July of last year, 80 passenger cars were registered, whereas only 56 were registered in July of this year, marking a 24% decline.

Overall, while passenger cars have seen a reduction, other types of vehicles have increased, resulting in a total decline of 17% in registered vehicles. By August 1, there were 231 fewer passenger cars registered this year compared to the same date last year.

From January 1 to August 1, there was nearly a 21% decrease in newly registered vehicles this year compared to the same period last year.

Additionally, the import of used cars into the Faroe Islands has also seen a rise, although the numbers remain relatively low. The amount of registered used vehicles has nearly doubled this year; specifically, 253 used cars were recorded by August 1, up from 128 during the same timeframe last year.

As of August 1, there are now 2,250 electric vehicles in the Faroe Islands, an increase of 455 compared to January 1.
