Helsinki, rail traffic, train delays

Train services departing Helsinki faced long delays on Wednesday after a personal injury incident between Rekola and Korso, Yle reported.

Rail traffic was halted for about 50 minutes in the afternoon, disrupting the schedules of commuter and long-distance trains arriving in and departing from Helsinki.

Several long-distance trains heading north were delayed. A train bound for Oulu was 90 minutes late, while a train to Rovaniemi was delayed by just over an hour.

The Rail Traffic Control Centre estimated that services would return to normal by 6pm.
