Police identify man killed in Gudenå River

Police have identified a foreign man who was found dead in the Gudenå River earlier this week, DR reports. Authorities had previously said he had been killed.

Mid and West Jutland Police press officer Anne Kirkegaard told the Ritzau news agency that the man was identified before Wednesday.

Police believe the killing took place no more than a week before he was found in the river on Monday afternoon.

Authorities have not released further information about the man because his closest relatives had not yet been notified shortly before Wednesday.

The man had previously been described as aged between 30 and 40, around 165 centimetres tall, slim and with short, dark hair. He also had a short beard or long stubble.

Police received the report at 4.30pm on Monday and quickly arrived at the scene north of the village of Svostrup. The case is being investigated as a murder.
