Klaksvík Hospital will begin breast MRI scans in early November, Kringvarp Føroya reported. Health Minister Eyðdis Hartmann Niclasen gave the information in a response to MP Elsebeth Mercedis Gunnleygsdóttir.
According to the hospital service, work on the examinations and preparations is not yet fully complete. However, progress has been sufficient for the service to be expected to start in early November.
Niclasen said breast MRI scans cannot replace mammograms. In some cases, they will be used as a supplement to mammography.
