Danish young people drink less but remain among Europe’s heaviest drinkers

Young people in Denmark are drinking less than before, but the country remains near the top in Europe for alcohol consumption, DR reports, citing a new survey by the Danish Cancer Society.

The survey, titled Young people’s alcohol habits in Denmark, examines alcohol use among Danes aged 15 to 25.

It also finds that alcohol plays a significant role in young people’s school and student lives. Nearly one in four students in youth education programmes and more than one in four students in higher education say alcohol has too large a role in their school or study life.

The findings come as several young people call for a new alcohol culture.
