Police investigate motorcycle crime series in capital region and Ostrobothnia

Yle reports that police are investigating a series of crimes targeting shops selling electric and conventional motorcycles in Finland’s capital region and Ostrobothnia.

The East Uusimaa, West Uusimaa and Ostrobothnia police departments suspect that the series includes six separate cases committed over several months.

Police arrested the suspected perpetrators in the act in Pedersöre, Ostrobothnia, on August 19. Three people are suspected in connection with the cases and have been remanded in custody, Detective Chief Inspector Klaus Geiger said in a police statement.

The value of the stolen property has risen to nearly 90,000 euros.

The crimes are being investigated as aggravated thefts, attempted aggravated thefts and theft.

Police are investigating the suspects’ roles in the different crimes, the whereabouts of the stolen property and whether other people were involved. The preliminary investigation is still under way.
