Helicopter sent after person falls into river at Stuðlagil

Rescue teams in eastern Iceland responded Monday after a person fell into the Jökulsá river at Stuðlagil, mbl.is reports.

Jón Þór Víglundsson, an information officer for Landsbjörg, said the emergency call was received at about 1 p.m.

The first responders were arriving at the scene, while police and ambulance crews were also on their way or had recently arrived. A Coast Guard helicopter was heading west with swiftwater rescuers from rescue teams in the Reykjavík area.
