Man in Jón Þröstur disappearance refuses Irish police interview

A petty criminal identified by Irish police in connection with the disappearance of Jón Þröstur Jónsson has refused to answer questions, mbl.is reported, citing the Irish Independent.

Jón Þröstur disappeared in Dublin on February 9, 2019. Police located the man, who lives in Liverpool, England, and asked to speak with him about the disappearance, but he declined through his lawyer.

According to police, the man has been convicted in Iceland in connection with domestic violence and in the United Kingdom for stealing from a jewellery shop. He has not been linked to organised crime.

An unnamed source said Irish police had tried to speak with the man, but he refused. The source added that there was not enough evidence to arrest him, and that officers had wanted to ask him several questions.
