Around 400 residents of Fjallabyggð and other users of Héðinsfjarðargöng, a tunnel, have signed an appeal calling on Iceland’s Road and Coastal Administration to act over years of water leaks in the tunnel’s Ólafsfjörður section, mbl.is reports.

The appeal is mentioned in the minutes of a Fjallabyggð municipal council meeting on August 13.

Hjördís Hjörleifsdóttir, one of those who organised the petition, handed the list to the council’s chairman. According to the minutes, Fjallabyggð Mayor Þórir Hákonarson has been tasked with inviting the Road and Coastal Administration to a meeting with the municipal council, where the issue will be formally discussed.
