Skjaldþingsstaðir records Iceland’s highest temperature at 22.9C

Skjaldþingsstaðir in Vopnafjörður recorded Iceland’s highest temperature on Sunday, reaching 22.9C, mbl.is reported.

Bakkagerði, a village, and Húsavík followed closely, with temperatures reaching 22.6C, according to the Icelandic Meteorological Office.

The best weather was in eastern Iceland, although skies were partly cloudy with occasional showers.

A new area of low pressure is expected to reach the country on Monday morning, bringing stronger winds and rain. Considerable rainfall is forecast for parts of southeastern and western Iceland, with temperatures between 8C and 15C.
