Åkesson abandons Liberals in election analysis

Sweden Democrats leader Jimmie Åkesson is effectively throwing the Liberals under the bus, SVT political commentator Mats Knutson says in an analysis published by SVT.

Åkesson said during SVT’s party leader interview that it is not in the Sweden Democrats’ interest to help the Liberals remain in parliament.

Knutson said the statement could be interpreted as a sign that the Tidö cooperation is breaking down. He said the Sweden Democrats leader had clearly concluded that the Liberals would not retain their seats in parliament.

The analysis concerns Åkesson’s comments about the Liberals and their leader, Simona Mohamsson.
