Coast Guard helicopter rescues injured man from Sólheimajökull

A Coast Guard helicopter rescued a man who injured his leg on Sólheimajökull glacier, mbl.is reports.

The helicopter crew was called out earlier in the day along with rescue teams in South Iceland.

Ásgeir Erlendsson, a communications officer for the Icelandic Coast Guard, said the man’s location made it difficult to transport him by any other means.

“He was hoisted aboard the helicopter, which landed at Landspítali hospital shortly ago,” Ásgeir told mbl.is.
