Norwegian air traffic controllers are on strike, disrupting travel to Sweden and potentially closing Oslo’s Gardermoen airport for five hours on Sunday, SVT reports.
Twelve SAS flights have been cancelled so far, including a flight from Oslo to Stockholm scheduled to depart at 7am on Saturday. More cancellations are expected during the day.
Airport operator Avinor expects significant delays and further cancellations. Gardermoen could be closed to air traffic for five hours from 6.30am on Sunday.
Twelve air traffic controllers at Gardermoen and Bergen’s Flesland airport have joined the strike. A further eight controllers at other airports could join on Tuesday, according to Norway’s air traffic controllers’ union.
The strike began on Friday after mediators failed to reach an agreement.
