The Faroese Equality Board has taken legal action against an employer after finding that a woman was discriminated against because she was pregnant, broadcaster KVF reported on Friday.
The board concluded in January that the employer had violated the Equality Act by preventing the woman from continuing in her job because she was pregnant.
The employer was ordered to pay compensation equivalent to 25 weeks of wages but refused to comply with the decision.
The board has therefore asked the prosecution service to bring charges and has also sued the employer. The case remains with the police, and no decision has yet been made on whether charges will be filed.
