Nams tomato production continues after producer’s bankruptcy
Production of the nationally known Nams tomato brand will continue in Pori, Yle reports. The brand’s original producer, Pori-based Agrifutura Oy, filed for bankruptcy in early August.
Osuuskunta Närpiön Vihannes, a vegetable packing cooperative from Närpiö, has bought the Nams brand. Tomato production, packing and marketing will continue in Pori.
Osuuskunta Närpiön Vihannes plans to market and sell tomatoes under both the Närpiön Vihannes and Nams brands. Together, the companies are expected to become market leaders.
“The acquisition is based on the view that Nams and Närpiön Vihannes complement each other rather than compete with one another,” Tomas Lindfors, chief executive of Osuuskunta Närpiön Vihannes, said in a statement.
Nams tomatoes are grown in greenhouses in Ulasoori, Pori.
