Nordic leaders meet in Copenhagen to strengthen defence cooperation

Nordic government leaders are meeting in Copenhagen on Thursday for their annual summer meeting, with Denmark and the Faroe Islands hosting, Kringvarp Føroya reported. Greenland and Åland are also taking part.

According to the Danish Prime Minister’s Office, the leaders will discuss stronger defence cooperation and how to protect children and young people from threats online.

The first part of the meeting is being held at Høvelte Barracks, where the Danish Chief of Defence will also attend. The meeting will then continue at Marienborg.

Alongside Faroese Prime Minister Beinir Johannesen and Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, the participants are Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, Icelandic Prime Minister Kristrún Frostadóttir, Greenland’s head of government Jens-Frederik Nielsen and Åland’s head of government Katrin Sjögren.
