Healthcare workers at Södersjukhuset in Stockholm want less administration and better working hours ahead of Sweden’s 2026 election, SVT reports.

Healthcare is the most important issue for voters. The parties’ main healthcare pledges include:

The Left Party wants increased and index-linked government grants to provide long-term funding.

The Green Party wants to secure more resources for healthcare across the country, saying funding is closely linked to working conditions and shorter waiting times.

The Social Democrats want to end hidden cuts in healthcare and adjust funding in line with inflation.

The Centre Party wants to create the conditions for the healthiest generation ever through accessible, patient-focused and equal healthcare across the country, with a strong focus on young people’s mental health.

The Liberals want to shorten healthcare queues and give everyone the right to a permanent, named doctor.

The Moderates want to reduce the current healthcare guarantee from 90 days to 30 days.

The Christian Democrats want healthcare to become a national responsibility and then abolish the current 21 regions.

The Sweden Democrats want patients to pay only 10 percent of the reference price for dental treatments such as fillings and root canals, with the state covering the remaining 90 percent.
