Fire breaks out at industrial area in Hafnarfjörður

A sizeable fire broke out among car wrecks, containers and other discarded items at an industrial area on Stálhella in Hafnarfjörður, mbl.is reported.

Firefighters sent one pumper truck to the scene. Guðjón Sigmundsson of the Capital Area Fire and Rescue Service said there had been a considerable blaze when crews arrived, but they expected to bring it under control shortly.

No nearby buildings were considered at risk.

The fire was initially reported to have started in Vellir, but the location was later corrected to Hellnahverfi in Hafnarfjörður following a resident’s comment.
