Man charged with stealing 286,000 Icelandic krónur worth of chicken breasts

A man in his thirties has been charged with extensive thefts over a period of more than 18 months, mbl.is reports, citing the Lögbirtingablaðið publication.

The indictment contains 46 counts, alleging that the man took various goods without permission from the end of 2024 until last spring. The items included tools, aluminium foil, vitamins, dietary supplements and large quantities of food.

Eleven of the charges concern the theft of chicken breasts, which were valued at more than 286,000 Icelandic krónur.

Prosecutors are seeking a sentence and payment of all legal costs. Representatives of the companies affected have also filed claims for compensation in 23 separate counts.
