Five more trade unions have agreed with the Ministry of Finance on a wage framework of 3.87 percent for the next year, Kringvarp Føroya reports. This brings the total number of unions that have reached an agreement to 17.

Most of the remaining unions have also entered negotiations on collective agreements, said Jan Sjóstein, director of the ministry’s wage department.

In most cases, the full increase will be added to salaries. In other cases, part of the framework will be used for reclassification.

The 12 unions that had previously reached an agreement are Starvsfelagið, Heilsurøktarafelagið, Ljósmøðrafelag Føroya, Búskapar- og Løgfrøðingafelag Føroya, Yrkisfelagið Miðnám, Akademikarafelag Føroya, Farmakonomforeningen, Yngri Læknar Føroyar, Kost- og føðslufelagið, Fysioterapeutfelag Føroya, Føroya Tekniska Lærarafelag and Pharma Danmark.

One-year agreements have also been reached with Ergoterapeutfelagið, Bioanalytikarafelagið, Musikklærarafelag Føroya, Felagið Maritimir Lærarar and Tænastumannafelagið.

Other trade unions have also been called in for negotiations. Talks have started with, among others, Føroya Lærarafelag, Felagið Føroyskir Sjúkrarøktarfrøðingar and Føroya Pedagogfelag.
