A police officer is on trial in Aarhus after allegedly exposing his penis and rubbing it against a colleague’s upper arm, Ritzau reports in an article published by DR.
The officer is accused of violating the colleague’s sexual modesty during an incident at the Brocaféen pub in Aarhus in June 2022.
According to the indictment, he allegedly said something resembling: “I have always wanted to do that to a perker.”
The defendant acknowledges exposing himself during an after-work summer party attended by colleagues. He said the gathering involved alcohol and that he was intoxicated.
He told the court that he had been trying to attract the attention of a colleague to ask which drink he wanted. When he failed to make eye contact, he decided to perform what he called a “gimmick”.
He pulled down his trousers and lifted his penis above his underwear. Only the outermost three centimetres were exposed, he said.
The defendant said the stunt was aimed at a colleague with whom he had a particularly good relationship. Another colleague then looked over his shoulder and asked what he was doing.
The officer denies that his penis touched the colleague’s arm and also rejects having used the slur cited in the indictment.
“I have never used that word in my life. It is not part of my vocabulary,” he told the court.
The colleague who reported the incident said he felt paralysed when he felt the defendant’s penis touch his upper arm. He said the conversation in the room suddenly stopped and everyone looked at him.
“I felt exposed. It was far beyond my boundaries. It was offensive. It was humiliating,” he said.
The police officer has been suspended from his job since he was charged. Several colleagues who witnessed the incident have been called as witnesses.
The court is expected to conclude the case on Tuesday.
