The division of responsibility in construction projects will become clearer when the minister who secures funding also oversees the construction and holds financial and professional responsibility for it, KVF reports. Industry Minister Jacob Vestergaard said the current separation between responsibility and authority was not working well.
Vestergaard has decided to abolish Landsverk’s project department and transfer its work to the ministries. The ministries are currently responsible for requesting funding from the Faroese Parliament, while Landsverk acts as the building owner.
Several construction projects have gone wrong, and the National Audit Office has pointed to a lack of clarity over financial responsibility and management, Vestergaard said. He added that ministers had struggled to fulfil their supervisory duties.
Vestergaard said he did not know how much the change would cost.
