Police may send officers to Spain and Poland to question two men held in custody in connection with the murder of a Polish man in Kársnes more than a week ago, mbl.is reports.
Chief Superintendent Elín Agnes Eide Kristínardóttir said the two men had previously stayed in Iceland, but declined to say whether they were in the country when the murder was committed.
Four people are in custody in connection with the case, including two in Iceland. According to mbl.is sources, three of them are Polish and one is Icelandic.
The men held in Spain and Poland have not yet been questioned. Elín Agnes said there was a good possibility that Icelandic police officers would travel to both countries to conduct the interviews.
She confirmed that the victim was stabbed with a sharp-edged weapon but would not comment on reports by RÚV that acid had been splashed in his face.
Thirteen people have been arrested in connection with the case. Some are not believed to have direct links to it, Elín Agnes said, but all the arrests are still being investigated.
