Meeting on Icelandic independence to feature party leader

A meeting on Icelandic independence will be held at Tónabíó on Skipholt at 5.30pm on Tuesday, mbl.is reports.

The meeting is titled “Free Iceland, sovereign nation” and is being organised by several associations within the Independence Party, along with the Society of Independence Supporters on Sovereignty Issues.

Speakers will include Guðrún Hafsteinsdóttir, leader of the Independence Party; MP Guðlaugur Þór Þórðarson; Ásdís Kristjánsdóttir, mayor of Kópavogur; and Júlíus Viggó Ólafsson, chairman of the Young Independents Association. Stefán Einar Stefánsson will chair the meeting.

The event will be livestreamed from 5.30pm.
