Minor scooter rider seriously injured in Rauma van crash

A minor scooter rider was seriously injured when a turning van hit the scooter at a pedestrian crossing in Rauma on Tuesday afternoon, Yle reports.

The boy was travelling along a cycle path on Huittistentie towards Eura and had a passenger with him. He was taken for medical treatment.

The van driver is suspected of aggravated endangerment of traffic safety and aggravated causing of injury. Alcohol is not suspected to have played a role, and the suspected offences may change as the investigation continues.

Several authorities attended the scene. Traffic has returned to normal.
