Court convicts man who threw student to floor in cafeteria
Satakunta District Court has fined a man in his thirties for assaulting a female student at the Satakunta University of Applied Sciences, Yle reports.
The incident took place last November in the cafeteria at SAMK’s Rauma campus.
The student approached the man from behind and poured a glass of water over his neck. The man then pushed her against a table, grabbed her by the neck and knocked her to the floor. Other cafeteria customers intervened quickly.
The court ruled that the man had used excessive force in the situation and could have defended himself by less severe means.
He was sentenced to 25 day-fines for assault. The ruling is not final and can be appealed to higher courts.
