Police identify 16-year-old suspect in Lohja school attack case

A 16-year-old boy is suspected of attempting a school massacre in Lohja, Yle reported, citing the Western Uusimaa Police Department and the Finnish News Agency STT.

Police said the boy tried on Friday to set fire to the building of Lohja Joint Lyceum, a high school. The fire did not start.

The boy is also a student at the school. Police found a bladed weapon, fire-starting materials and a manifesto in his possession. Police declined to comment to STT on the manifesto’s contents.

He was taken to hospital after the incident and remains there, according to police. Investigators plan to question him on Wednesday and seek his remand in custody later this week.
