Iceland’s District Prosecutor has charged two men and a woman over an alleged attempt to import more than 1 kilogram of cocaine into Iceland in 2024, mbl.is reports.

The woman is in her forties and the two men are in their thirties. The indictment, issued in June, alleges that they acted together to import 1,039.69 grams of cocaine with a purity of 88 to 89 per cent, intended for distribution in Iceland for profit.

The cocaine was concealed in a postal package sent from France on August 26, 2024. The package was registered in another man’s name.

French customs stopped the package before it was sent to Iceland. Icelandic police then took possession of it in France, transported it to Iceland, removed the cocaine, replaced it with dummy substances and delivered the package.

According to the indictment, the woman collected the package from a post office in Síðumúli, a Reykjavík district, on September 17, 2024. She carried it to Ármúli in Reykjavík, where she handed it to one of the men. That man had received information about the package from the other man through the Signal messaging application and passed the information on to the woman.

The woman also faces charges related to drugs and weapons. In September 2024, she allegedly possessed 0.41 grams of amphetamine, 20 Rivotril tablets, 14 Imovane tablets, 14 Pregabalin Accord tablets and a 40-millilitre canister of pepper spray. Police seized the items after stopping her near an Olís service station in Garðabær and arresting her.

One of the men was also charged with possessing 14.75 grams of MDMA near the same Olís station on the same day. Police seized the substance when he was arrested.

He additionally faces weapons charges and charges under legislation banning certain performance-enhancing substances and medicines. Police allegedly found two gas weapons, two tear-gas weapons, two knuckle-dusters, an electric weapon with three cartridges, and eight bladed weapons at his former home in Reykjavík.

The indictment also alleges that he possessed 148 grams of methandrostenolone in tablet form, 60 anastrozole tablets, 30 10-milligram tamoxifen tablets, a total of 55.5 millilitres of injectable anabolic steroids and one vial of HCG injectable medication containing anabolic steroids.
