Blue Lagoon appoints new human resources and sales directors

Blue Lagoon has appointed Hildur Þórisdóttir as chief human resources officer and Jóhann Valur Sævarsson as chief commercial officer following organisational changes earlier this summer, mbl.is reports.

Hildur joins the company from Festi hf., where she served as human resources manager. She has previously worked in human resources at Straumur-Burðarás Investment Bank, Kvika bank, Mannvit and Lyfja.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Iceland.

Jóhann Valur joins Blue Lagoon from Icelandair, where he was head of enterprise architecture, data and automation. He previously worked for Air Atlanta, WOW air and Nova.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Reykjavík University and a master’s degree in engineering from the Technical University of Denmark.

Other members of Blue Lagoon’s executive management are Helgi Júlíusson, managing director of finance; Sigrún Halldórsdóttir, managing director of operations; Sigurður Long, managing director of technology; and Sigurður Þorsteinsson, managing director of design.

Sigríður Margrét Oddsdóttir, Blue Lagoon’s chief executive, said the new team brought diverse experience and different backgrounds.

“We are well equipped to take on the next phase. Ahead lies an exciting journey in which we intend to strengthen our marketing efforts, continue developing the guest experience and vigorously pursue the opportunities created by Blue Lagoon’s strong position,” she said.
