Police officer who pointed gun at man was conducting traffic control

A police officer who pointed a gun at a man in Villilä, Tampere, was carrying out a traffic control assignment, Yle reported on Monday.

Antero Rytkölä, deputy chief of the Central Finland Police Department, confirmed the information.

Investigators do not yet know what happened before the video was recorded. They are also examining whether the officer was alone in the police car.

The officer has not been reassigned to other duties, at least for now, Rytkölä said. The report is being updated.
